Congratulations to the following podiatrists who have recently published an article entitled "A Report of a Rare Phalangeal Periosteal Chondroma of the Foot" in the January 2011 issue of The Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery (Vol. 50, #1, pp. 122-125). The authors are from the P/SL Denver Medical Center Podiatric Residency Program.
Katherine K. Parodi, DPM, submitted during her P/SL residency
William D. Farrett, DPM, FACFAS, Clinic and Externship Director
Matthew H. Paden, DPM, FACFAS, Director of Residency Education
Paul A. Stone, DPM, FACFAS, Director of Research
The article explains that periosteal chondromas are benign, cartilaginous tumors that typically occur at the metaphysis of long tubular bones. They are slow-growing and occasionally associated with pain, with or without trauma to the area. Treatment consists of wide surgical resection with curettage.
Pick up a copy of their interesting article at the reference desk of the Denver Medical Library.
